I spent one week in Paris studying French and living with my teacher Claire and her family, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice, as it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Claire is a very experienced and professional teacher, always going the extramile to find the best topics for our classes and the best activities to do together. The classes are particularly intensive as you can choose together with your teacher what skills you want to work on depending on your personal interests or your professional goals. I asked Claire to focus our classes mostly on speaking and listening, and even if I stayed there only one week, I feel like I improved a lot. As for our extracurricular activities, Claire proposed several cultural activities like going to concerts or helping her out with her non-profit organization teaching French to immigrants, but also sports activities like tennis or yoga in the local contry club. Again, itw as up to me to decide what kind of activities I preferred, and she was always very accomodating. However, the « At the teacher’s » programme allows you to have a lot of free time too, so I seized the opportunity to go visit the center of Paris one day and the beautiful Château de Versailles another day. Claire’s family also played a big role in this wonderful experience. Her partner and her son would always join us for lunch and dinner, they were always very kind to me and involved me in all their conversations. You could really tell that the whole family genuinely enjoyed hosting foreign students at their home. So, overall the experience was incredibly enriching, not only linguistically but also on a human level, as you really end up feeling part of the family. I couldn’t recommend it more !
